If the only off from work that you have had for the past six months was only when you take a deep breath, then you definitely need a break—a relaxing and soothing trip that is full-packed with fun and experiences that you need to be revived, without the cost the we call “a fortune”.When planning for a trip, budget is always our first consideration (well, except for those who are rich enough to swipe their cards everywhere). It’s a restriction that most of us are facing. However, it shouldn’t stop us from doing what we want to do and going where our feet want to take us because there are actually vacation spots out there that offers the same level of experience as those of the expensive out-of-the-country trips. The island of vacation in Bohol is definitely perfect choice.

We are all aware that Bohol is famous for its endless rolling mounds that turn to chocolate-like hills in the summer, significance in the Philippine history, beaches that are beaded with white sands, and the local cuisine that has remained uninfluenced for ages—these characteristics made every vacation in Bohol a memorable experience.

Spending a vacation in Bohol is having various experiences in one trip, because Bohol vacation is the definition coming to reality for the word “vacation”. Let’s give you a blow by blow description on that. First, the Chocolate Hills provides an eternal view of green mounds and gives off fresh air to the entire island, so that’s stress-relieving. Second, it is also in Bohol where the remarkable blood compact of Legazpi and Sikatuna happened. The Pacto de Sangre or blood compact symbolizes the unification of Spain (through Legazpi) and Bohol (through Sikatuna), so that’s a vacation with historical education. Third reason why Bohol vacation is a must are the white sand beaches. Panglao Island is famous for its white sand beaches, exceptional foods and beverages, and hospitable people. In line with that, you can also go on snorkelling, diving, or go swimming with the dolphins to satisfy your sense of adventure. So that’s where fun, adventure, and a gastronomic experience come in. Lastly, if you wanna try the gentleman’s sports on the island, you can go golfing in one of Panglao’s resorts, so that’s a new experience. Having said that, vacation in Bohol is indeed a must-try.

When planning a vacation, you don’t really need to look farther, Bohol is always there waiting for you; and a vacation in Bohol has never been boring as it has so much things and activities lined up for jetsetters like you. And with that, we’ll wait for you there!

Bohol, Philippines. This place is recognized by the world for its unique land formation; with thousands of rolling green hills that attracted geologists and tourists around the globe, this place is definitely a record-breaker.

Chocolate Hills is Bohol’s top tourist attraction. Why not? The beauty of the evergreen hills and the cold breeze of the wind touching your skin would surely captivate you. These hills are covered with grasses that turn to brown and chocolate-looking during the summer season. Thus, they were named Chocolate Hills.

Along with fame is controversy. This marvelous place was once questioned by spectators with the idea that the mounds were man-made, but geologists suggested a theory on the process of the formation of these hills. Thus, the story was concluded. They come up with a theory that these landforms came from the bottom of the ocean and emerged from where they are at the moment through several geological process and changes, millions of years ago. However, the natives of Bohol had a different story as to beginning of the Chocolate Hills. The folkloric legend of the Chocolate Hills says that, there was once a giant who fell in love to a beautiful girl from the village. Out of desperation, the giant kidnapped the village girl; however, the girl died as they go along their journey. The giant was then saddened by the death of the beautiful village girl, so he cried and cried; and his giant tears turned out to be the Chocolate Hills of today.

With the endless mounds in Bohol, you might think that this place has been left by civilization and you have to be an experienced camper to survive. But in reality, this place is more of a vacation getaway than a surviving-in-the-woods adventure. Yep! In fact, two of the highest hills had resorts and restaurants on them, plus a view deck to satisfy your insatiable hunger to wander your eyes on breathtaking sceneries. More so, the costs that you have to pay to enjoy your stay are absolutely at its minimum.

The Chocolate Hills is Bohol’s principal attraction—the centerpiece of the whole island. It’s the landmark that tells you that you are in Bohol. Boholanos would actually say that you are not in Bohol if you haven’t seen the Chocolate Hills. So, pack your bags up, book a trip, and see you there!

One of the amazing things why Bohol is a top tourist destination is the existence of the Philippine Tarsier- hailed as the “smallest monkey” in the world. This Philippine Tarsier scientifically known as Tarsius Syrichta is indeed so cute measuring up to 4 to 5 inches only. It is about or less than the size of an adult’s closed fist.

The Philippine Tarsier is a primitive primate so adorable with its tail longer than its body. It has a huge overwhelming pair of eyes whose sockets are believed to be larger than its brain. What is truly unique about the Philippine Tarsier is the post-orbital closure of the eyes which prevents it from totally being pressed. It is bulging outwardly – truly mesmerizing!
Nocturnal by nature, the Philippine Tarsier is asleep during tourist visiting hours. When the sun is up, they tend to hide close to the ground in hollow holes. These small creatures dwell on the base on trunks and roots in bamboo shrubs. The Philippine Tarsier is also observed to be sociable being. They huddle together in groups with male and female members. The female is believed to be nurturing while the male Philippine tarsier is found to be careless.

Now, the Philippine Government declared the Philippine Tarsier as an endangered species. With very limited number up to date, these monkeys are available for tourist viewing in Philippine Tarsier Foundation in Bohol with certain restrictions. The monkeys should not be touched since they are sensitive and delicate to human hands which can hurt their futile hairless skin. The maximum life span of the Philippine Tarsier is form 12 years to 20 years if care is properly applied.
The Philippine tarsier is also found in some neighboring island in Samar, Leyte and some parts in Mindanao province but of slightly different specifications. The Philippine Tarsier in Bohol is a remarkable creature bringing pride to the country. Aside from the translucent beaches of the Philippines, the Tarsier is one thing any tourist should not dare to miss.
